  1. What constitutes sexting?
ISL definition.......come up with your own version.
  • Sexting is the act of sending sexually explicit messages or photos electronically, primarily between mobile phones and/or the internet.
  • Sexting is an extension of cyberbullying when someone (or a group of people) deliberately attempts to hurt, upset, threaten or humiliate someone else.
Blind vote
  • Heads down........Do you believe a boyfriend or girlfriend sending an explicit picture of themselves to their partner is dangerous?

Legal Implications
  • Read the 4 statements below and the 4 possible implications. Look at how they progressively worse.

  1. Sarah, 14, takes a sexual photo of herself on her camera-phone and sends it to her boyfriend James, 15. Sarah is now potentially guilty of distributing child pornography. James is potentially guilty of possession of child pornography
  2. Sarah dumps James. Out of revenge James sends the photo to his friends at school. James is now guilty of distributing - and his friends of possession - of child pornography. Sarah is embarrassed as a sexual photo of herself circulates school
  3. James’s friend uploads the photo to a social networking profile, where his photos are visible to the public. James is in breach of website terms and guilty of distributing child pornography
  4. Paedophiles browse profiles with loose privacy settings and find the image of Sarah. Sarah unwittingly becomes the subject of child pornography for distribution among strangers and paedophiles
What impact can this have on someones life? Discuss with your partner and make notes.

Disturbing facts - Have a look
  • 38% said they had received a sexually explicit or distressing text or email (male: 36% | female: 39%)
  • 70% of young people knew the sender of the message. 45% of messages were from a peer, 23% from a current boyfriend /girlfriend and just 2% from adults
  • Of the 25% who received an offensive sexual image, 55% were issued via mobile phone
  • 29% have been chatting online chat when someone started talking about offensive or up-setting sexual things (male: 24% | female: 31%)
  • In this instance, 45% said the chat was instigated by a peer, 10% by an ex-partner and 2% by an adult

Dear Grade 8,

Today we are going to set up your Heath site. You will be using Mr Smiths blog to view everything that we are discussing in lesson.

1. mrsmithhealthg8.blogspot.com - This site needs to be saved as a favourite on your computer.

2. You will then create your own google sites page and share this with me. In the name for your site you need to have your first name at the very least as the name of your site. Please make sure that I can edit your site

3. You will then be able to personalise your site. Ensure you click save at the end of every change you make.

4. Who am I? - Here I would like you to give a few sentences about you as a person. Please include your hobbies, favourite food/sport/movie etc, and also 1 goal that you would like to achieve by the end of grade 8. This can be academic, sporting, in school, or out of school.
